The United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA-NRCS), with assistance from American Fork City as the project sponsor, and Lehi City as project co-sponsor, is proposing improvements within the American Fork-Dry Creek Watershed, Utah County. The purpose of this project is to reduce the potential risk of personal injury and flood damage to municipal and private properties, agricultural enterprises, and public infrastructure along certain waterways within the watershed that are subject to flooding events during spring runoff and after storms.
NRCS, as the lead federal agency, is initiating National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analysis in the form of a Supplemental Watershed Plan and Environmental Assessment (Plan-EA) to analyze impacts to the natural and human environment from this project.
The Draft Plan-EA has been reviewed by NRCS-Utah and has undergone a technical review by the NRCS National Water Management Center (NWMC) in Little Rock, Arkansas, and a programmatic review by the NRCS National Headquarters (NHQ) Office in Washington, D.C. The Draft Plan-EA is currently available for public review and comment through July 9, 2025. A public meeting is being held at the Old American Fork City Hall (31 Church Street) on June 23rd at 6:00 PM.
