Genola, Utah

Overview

Genola’s drinking water system depended on a single source, leaving the community with little backup if that source became unavailable. To build a more reliable system, the Town began planning a second culinary well and a 1-million-gallon storage tank. Franson Civil helped guide the project from the first test well through design and construction.

Finding the right water source was the first step. Working with a hydrogeologist, our team helped drill a test well and confirmed that the site could produce the water Genola needed. The location was on federal land, so we also worked through environmental reviews and coordinated approvals with the Bureau of Land Management and the State of Utah. Funding secured through the Bureau of Reclamation’s WaterSMART program helped make the project possible.

The completed system includes:

  • A new culinary well and wellhouse

  • A 1-million-gallon water storage tank

  • About 3,500 feet of pipeline connecting the new facilities to the Town’s water system

  • Access roads, parking, and fencing

Franson Civil prepared the plans and construction documents, assisted with bidding, and stayed involved during construction by reviewing the work and helping address questions as they arose.

For Genola residents, the project provides something simple but important: a more dependable drinking water supply. The second source and added storage give the Town greater flexibility during emergencies, maintenance, and periods of high demand while creating a stronger water system for the community’s future.
