Overview
For more than two decades, Franson Civil has partnered with Cub River Irrigation Company (CRIC) to modernize a regional agricultural water delivery system that serves farming communities across northern Utah and southern Idaho.
Since 2002, Franson Civil has provided ongoing engineering services to CRIC, completing four major canal enclosure projects (Idaho system, Lewiston System, West Lewiston, and Middle Ditch) and leading planning efforts for a fifth (North Cache Valley). These improvements have conserved approximately 11,300 acre-feet of water each year while improving delivery efficiency, reducing energy use, and helping ensure farmers continue to receive dependable water deliveries as municipal growth places increasing demands on the region's water resources.
Today, CRIC delivers irrigation water through 44 miles of pressurized pipeline and 28 miles of open canals. Once the North Cache Valley project is complete, the entire service area will receive pressurized irrigation water, marking the completion of a decades-long effort to modernize the system.
Throughout the program, Franson Civil has provided planning, funding acquisition, hydraulic modeling, environmental compliance, design, construction observation, and contract administration. We have worked closely with CRIC, regulatory agencies, funding partners, and the public to develop practical solutions that balance water conservation, operational efficiency, environmental stewardship, and the long-term needs of the agricultural community.
